About Me

I’m Pat Brennan and I created this blog to inform and encourage people in their efforts to establish a sound financial future and, in their free time, make the best of our National Parks–truly national treasures.

Personal finance has been an enduring interest throughout my life and I believe I’ve learned many lessons that will be helpful to readers. My thoughts on finance may be particularly helpful for military members and any persons having a steady, reliable income and need a common-sense approach to getting ahead.  Among my other interests, which hit me later in life, is a deep appreciation for our National Parks.  These treasures are underappreciated and my aim is to show how much enjoyment they can bring to individuals and families.  I served 30 years in the U. S. Coast Guard primarily as an officer and aviator.  After retirement, I have worked as a management consultant and Waterfront Director for the City of Mobile, AL.

Born and reared in Eugene, OR, I now reside in Mobile, AL with my wife.  We have three sons and a daughter, all grown.  In 1984 I earned a BS in Government from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, earned my Wings of Gold in 1987, and in 1998 earned an MBA degree from Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL.
